And you said: Not if I find thirty there. Please. I have presumed to speak. Suppose twenty. And you said: Not for the sake of the twenty. Jehovah, please, do not be angry. Let me speak just once more. Suppose only ten are found there. And you said: I will not destroy it, for the sake of the ten. Early, I went back to the place where I stood before you. I looked down. Ten were not found. The smoke went up like the smoke of a kiln. But my brother's son walked out alive. You kept me in mind. We cannot see inside a heart. You can. You search the deep of every one. You take no pleasure when the wicked die; you want them to turn and live. Your ways are higher than our ways. So we leave the judging to you, the way your friend did on the ridge, and we say what he said: Will the Judge of all the earth not do what is right? (He will, he will do what is right.)
