Before the World Was

Before the sea was told how far to run, before the first morning, there was the Word, the first one made, and he was already, at his Father's side. No hill, no star, no living thing, only the Father and the Son. Then all things came to be through him, and not one thing came any other way. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a god, the first one made, at the side of the One who made him. Before the world was, he was there. Before the world was, he was with God. When Jehovah set the mountains in their places, when he drew the line where sea meets sky, when he gave the earth its footing, the Son was there beside him, and he was glad. Never at a distance, his master worker, and the one he loved. Day by day, his joy, the first and the closest of all his sons. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a god, the first one made, at the side of the One who made him. Before the world was, he was there. Before the world was, he was with God. Jehovah, you loved him before the world was founded. You gave him glory at your side. Then the one who stood beside you came here and lived among us, so we could look at him, and see you. Through him came life, and the life was light for us, and the dark has never put it out. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a god, the first one made, at the side of the One who made him. Before the world was, he was there. Before the world was, he was with God. Before the world was, he was with God. Before the world was, he was loved. He was there... He was there.
