About Original Joyful Songs

Original Joyful Songs is a growing collection of songs based on the Bible. Every song is new, written and recorded for this site. None of them is a hymn or a cover.

Press play and the music keeps going, from one song to the next. There are no ads here. You can leave the songs to play continuously or put your favorite on repeat.

Why these songs exist

These songs are written to praise God, to share the message of the Bible, and to give you wholesome, joyful songs that lift your spirit.

A song can be based on any part of the Bible. Some are about God and what he has done, like the creation of the heavens and the earth. Some are about people in the Bible and the choices they made. Some are about the things people go through: asking for forgiveness, feeling afraid, or staying joyful when everything goes wrong. Many are about what God has promised for the future.

Each song stays with its passage long enough for you to picture what it describes and feel what it means. You do not need to know the Bible well to enjoy these songs. They draw on musical styles from around the world, because the Bible's message is for people everywhere. For now, every song is in English.

How the songs are written

Each song is built on one main passage of scripture, along with other verses that support the same thought. The passage is studied carefully first, and then the song is written and rewritten until every line is clear. Every song shows the main scripture it is based on, so you can read it in your own Bible. The full lyrics are on every song's page, and the line being sung lights up as the song plays.

A song is not the entire Bible passage sung word for word. Some lines quote the Bible directly, such as "Look! I am making all things new." from Revelation 21:5. The rest of the song is new writing, based on the passage and the verses that support it.

Every song follows one rule: nothing in it goes beyond what the Bible says. If a line sounds beautiful but the Bible does not support it, the line is cut.

Who is behind this

Original Joyful Songs is a personal project, shared freely.

There is no name on these songs, no face, and no story about the person who writes them. That is on purpose. What matters is the songs and what they say, not the person who wrote them.

If you would like to write to the project, use the contact page.

Where to listen

The songs are available only on this site. Every song is free to play, with no account to create and nothing to buy. Listen in any browser on a phone, tablet or computer, or install the site from the menu so it opens like an app. A new song is added regularly.

How you can help

If you enjoy a song or the song helps you in any way, please share it with someone who can benefit from it. Every song has a Share button. A song means more when it comes from someone who cares about you.

You can also press the heart on the songs you love. It shows which songs listeners love the most and helps shape what comes next.

Thank you for listening.
