Father… I close my eyes tonight And I can almost see it The world you promised long ago Before we broke your heart You planted Eden with your hands You breathed life into the dust And even when we turned away You never once gave up on us I have watched the ones I love Close their eyes and slip away I have held the hands of brothers Who could barely face the day I have seen the mothers grieving At the graveside in the rain And I have asked you, Father… How much longer with this pain?
